Kathu offers the tranquility of the Kalahari lifestyle with three shopping malls and wide range of sport and entertainment activities as well as medical facilities.

Kathu Golf Course is a world-class course that is built to be played and designed to be seen and enjoyed. This 18hole par 72 course has consistently been ranked in the top thirty courses in South Africa. Being surrounded with by Camel Thorn forest, the course is unique in South Africa. A unique variety of wild life and nature ensures a worthwhile test of golf. In addition, the golf club offers a fully stocked pro shop, golf club bar, golf carts as well as secure lockers rooms and showers. The Course is open from 7am till 7pm in summer and from 7am until 6pm in winter.

Interesting Facts About Our Region
The colour of the sand is red due to the high metal deposits in the sands. When the metals oxidise it causes the sand to turn red in colour. This is a common sight in the Kalahari.
Arid-adapted game includes springbok, impalas steenbok and duiker can be seen on the Estate. One will also often see many meerkat, mongoose and dassies.
The rich birdlife in the area includes a third of the 600 species own to South Africa. Common residents in the Kalahari Golf Estate are hornbills, guinea fowls and pheasants species – amongst others.
Many reptiles also live in the Kalahari, including numerous lizard species. Remarkably some amphibians are also able to survive here. It is incredible to hear the frog chorus commence as soon as the rains arrive.
The untouched areas of the Estate consists mainly of has scattered trees of which several species of Acacia can be seen as well as shrubs and grasses.
Endemic to the Kalahari, the camelthorn is a crucial part of the desert ecosystem, producing nutrients that encourage other plants to grow around its base and providing shade for animals.
The temperatures in our area are extreme, with summers being very hot while winter temperatures can go below zero degrees Celsius at night.
